40-Year-Old Virgin

2005 – Steve Carrel was in studio in 2013, and he talked about writing the movie with Judd Apetow.  The idea was from a character from an improv sketch.  He said he knew he had to actually do the waxing scene, not only for his experience, but for the reaction from the men watching it happen.  He said Judd Apetow had to give him the lecture to get on with it and keep writing this movie, because he would have dropped the ball.  He says owes Judd and Jon Stewart his entire career.  Because of the success of this movie, he didn’t have to audition for Maxwell Smart in Get Smart.  He went to Warner Brothers expecting to audition, and they said they wanted him for the part and were asking him who he wanted as a director, ect.

Judd Apetow was in to plug 40-Year Old Virgin, which Artie and Robin say has the best movie poster ever with Steve Carrell looking up with this glazed look on his face.  Artie says you can’t see that poster and not want to know more about this guy.
