1995 – Elizabeth Berkley from Showgirls was in studio when she was 23.  Howard said that was the best age for women.  Robin reminded him that he’d said last week that 26 was the perfect age when he had had a 26-year old in studio.  Howard said it was a good career move for her to change her image, as she was originally known as the girl from Saved by the Bell, even though she’s blamed for the failure of this movie.  Howard said it wasn’t a good movie, and she said there was no indication while she was filming that it was going to be this bad; it even did well at film festivals.  She had confidence that it would do well, as the director, Paul Verhoeven, had done a bunch of good movies, namely Basic Instinct, Total Recall, Robo Cop, and he went on to direct Starship Troopers, one of Howard’s favorites.  But Howard said it was worth it, as it gave her name recognition, so that now she’s got her next role in First Wives’ Club.
